‘Spread some kindness’: Student’s small act of paying for a stranger’s cof
fee is warming hearts on Twitter

There are times when a small act of kindness may not be a big deal for the per
son doing it but might affect the recipient in a bigger way. Something similar
happened when a college student decided to pay for the coffee of a stranger a
nd something beautiful happened later.
常常小小的舉動會造成大大的回響，這種美麗的經驗也發生在一個大學女孩幫她後面的陌

Mackenzie Mauller, 19, from Union Town, Ohio, went into Starbucks and paid for
a woman sitting behind her, a gesture that is often practised in the barista
chain as a ‘pay it forward’ initiative. The lady was so moved by Mauller’s
sweet act that she surprised her with a hand-written letter and opened up how
her gesture made her sail through a very difficult time.
這個女孩叫做Mauller，是個19歲來自俄亥俄州的大學生，到了一家星巴克消費，並且幫
坐在她後面的陌生女士付款。這個舉動感動了這位女士，女士寫了一封親筆函給Mauller

Her tweet with photos of the letter was shared on Twitter and the kind act qui
ckly went viral.

“Thank you for the coffee! I rarely go to Starbucks and treat myself, but the
last couple of months have been a bit of a struggle,” the letter read. “My
father just passed away and he was also my babysitter. My family and my childr
en have had a really hard time. This morning my babysitter called off sick and
I had to take the day off work. I decided to buy my kids breakfast and get my
self coffee with total guilt because I am going to become a stay-at-home mom f
or a while,” it added.
這位女士原本是要給孩子們買些麵包，也給自己買杯咖啡的女士在信中表示因父親剛過世
，家中近幾個月正經歷一段艱難時期，也因為這樣子不得不暫停工作，並在家帶孩子。
The handwritten note from the woman, whose name is Nicole Clawson, also commen
ted on her post and wrote, “This has been such a great learning opportunity f
or them, on how to treat others, no matter what. They are excited to pay it fo
rward, and treat others with kindness and selflessness.”
這位女士叫做Clawson，也看到了Mauller的推文，也表示這種無私的分享對孩子們來說是

Now, Mauller is also trying to find her a babysitter since and the due have be
come good friends. Clawson told Yahoo News she was shocked when she heard some
one paid for her coffee. And now her kids too want to pay it forward.
