Serena Williams certainly showed the Power To Inspire at the Mutua Madrid
Open on Wednesday, battling back from triple match point down to survive
Victoria Azarenka.

MADRID, Spain - Serena Williams edged Victoria Azarenka in a marathon to
extend her winning streak to 26 matches and reach the quarterfinals of the
Premier Mandatory-level Mutua Madrid Open.

Though Williams had won 14 of 17 previous meetings against Azarenka, and both
clay court meetings in straight sets, many of them had been close, and this
one was arguably the closest. The pair battled it out for two hours and 43
minutes until Williams finally emerged with the victory, 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-6(1).

game.

ended by Sabine Lisicki in the Wimbledon 16s.
