Roger Federer WILL win Wimbledon again, insists his coach Stefan Edberg

Despite the desperate urgings of the Centre Court crowd, Roger Federer
remains on 17 Grand Slam titles.
And the Swiss superstar’s biggest obstacle to equalling the mark set by
Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova is still Novak Djokovic.
“I still believe he can do it,” said Federer's coach Stefan Edberg. “It’s
not going to be easy but if he keeps himself in shape and has the motivation
to work hard, he is still one of the best grass court players out there.
“Once he comes to a final you always feel he has a chance but he has played
Novak two years in a row now. He is not the easiest guy.”
Edberg led Djokovic’s coach Boris Becker 2-1 in Wimbledon finals but the
German is now 2-0 against the Swede as a coach.
選手時期,艾柏格在與喬科維奇的教練貝克於溫布頓決賽的對戰紀錄2比1領先;
It was not quite a repeat of last year’s final, which the Serb won in five
sets.
Federer took an epic second set tie-break but ultimately could not repeat his
stunning semi-final demolition of Andy Murray.
Then, he made 76 per cent of first serves, yesterday it was only 67 per cent.
And the sheer athleticism of Djokovic, the ultimate modern player, also
countered the Federer serve and his groundstrokes.
The world No.2, who turning 34 next month was bidding to become the oldest
winner in the Open era, suffered the fate of Andy Murray on Friday: playing
well but being beaten by the better player.
“I still think I had a great tournament,” he insisted. “Thankfully I’ve
won here in the past, so it doesn’t feel like I’m chasing anything.
“Clearly I would have loved to win today. But I still think I can be very
happy with the level of play. Even today, it was fine.”
Federer can take consolation from being the people’s champion here.
“It’s great to have so much crowd support around the world, but also
particularly here at Wimbledon, which is the Holy Grail,” he said.
“It’s beautiful. I must tell you it means almost as much to me as winning
because I’ve been around for a long, long time.”

Wimbledon champ Novak Djokovic so brilliant 'Federer and Murray won't win
another Grand Slam title'

Andy Murray and Roger Federer have been warned they won’t win another Grand
Slam while Novak Djokovic remains at the peak of his powers.
World No 1 Djokovic insisted on Monday that he will continue to strive to
improve his game after winning his ninth Major title – and his third at
Wimbledon - on Sunday.
The sensational Serb has now beaten Federer in the last two finals and Murray
in their last eight meetings stretching back to July 2013. He has also lost
only once, in the French Open final, since February while winning 35 matches.
And Swedish legend Mats Wilander, the winner of seven Grand Slams, reckons
the 28-year-old Djokovic will continue to improve and dominate the sport.
“Will Roger Federer win a last Grand Slam title or will Andy Murray win a
third?” he asked. “As long as Novak Djokovic is there and continues to play
at this level, I don’t think so. It is as simple as that.
“His style of play is not tiring. His play can go to an even higher level.
"I say to Murray, [Tomas] Berdych or [Kei] Nishikori, 'Guys, roll up your
sleeves, you are going to have to double your workload, because Djokovic is a
world No 1 who is getting better all the time.'”
Djokovic's coach, Boris Becker, added: “He’s a tough cookie, I call him a
street fighter - when the going gets tough, he gets better. When he bleeds a
little bit, he goes forward. That’s his trademark.”
。」
Star player turned commentator John McEnroe reckoned the Serb will win “four
or five more Grand Slams” in the next two years – and reckoned he is now in
the top five players of all time.
“If he stays healthy, he is going to dominate the next couple of years,”
said the American.
The Serb, who revived the tradition of dancing with the women’s champion
Serena Williams on Sunday night, warned: “There is always room for
improvement and I think that is something that is positive and keeps me going.
"We always want to work harder than the other guys so that is something that
is always in the back of your mind and gives you a lot of motivation. There
is always something I can work on.
“As a 28-year-old, I feel like I have many years in front of me. Right now I
feel like I’m at the peak of my abilities and career and I want to use that
for as long as I can.
"How long I can go I really don’t want to predict anything. Roger is 33.
Hopefully I will be able to be as healthy as him and keep going.”
Djokovic becomes the only man to ever beat Rafa Nadal at Roland Garros and
Federer at Wimbledon – and is fast approaching their totals of 14 and 17
Major titles.
“I am still far far away from that,” claimed the world No 1.
“To reach these two guys would be something incredible but honestly I am not
thinking about it now."
