Martina Hingis is currently sitting atop the world doubles rankings but the 36-
year-old Swiss legend says she has not committed to coming back next season as
of yet. In an interview to Der Bund, the five-time Grand Slam singles champion
was asked about coming back for the 2018 season and she responded, "Now we play
this season, then we look further. I let it come to me."
Hingis won her only US Open singles title 20 years ago when she defeated Venus
Williams in the final and says she never thought she would still be playing two
decades later. "I thought I might play to 28, 30. But everything has also
shifted. You do not come on the tour so early, but you play longer. The fact
that teenagers win Grand Slams, there is hardly any more today. I still enjoy
it, trying to improve myself, go with the time. And still have the chance to
win Grand Slams.
In normal life there is not much that feels so so fulfilling." Hingis says
pursuing tennis as a profession is a privilege and is inspired by the likes of
Francis Tiafoe. "Some should make a reality check. What does Bernard Tomic say.
He should go to work in a factory. Then he would see how it can be. I am happy
when I see one like Frances Tiafoe, who played against Roger. I know his story,
got to know him at the World Team Tennis at the Washington Kastles. He grew up
in the Tennisclub, where his father worked, wanted to play. It is fun to watch
one who has so much pleasure in this sport."
這篇是幾天前的採訪,然後剛剛公主也迴避了是否明年澳網繼續與 Murray 組隊。
然後兩天前打詹皓晴的時候他笑著回應,等他退休了詹皓晴就可以回來跟詹詠然組了。
