Baghdatis Gives Away His Heart and His Gear in Epic Wimbledon Send-Off
Marcos Baghdatis ended his career at Wimbledon with the same kind of
heart-warming charm that carried him through his successful career. The
former World No.8 fell to Matteo Berrittini in second-round action and gave
away his racquets, his shoes—even his socks—to adoring fans in an epic
farewell celebration after the match.

“I want to thank them for just being there and, you know, going through all
the emotions with me,” Baghdatis told reporters in a teary post-match press
conference.
“Yeah, I'm crying but I'm happy, you know,” he said. “It's happy moment
for everybody because I'm really excited for the future and, yeah, I mean,
the only thing I'm sad leaving behind is the last part: the fans and the
emotions that they always gave me. Yeah, that's the only thing that really
I'm really sad leaving behind.”
