莎娃退休跟Kobe有關 不刻意宣告向球迷說再見

〔體育中心／綜合報導〕曾奪下5座大滿貫冠軍的俄羅斯前世界球后莎拉波娃（Maria Sha
rapova）昨無預警宣布退休，對於選擇不在賽事中向大家告別，她做出解釋，同時也提及
萌生退役念頭的時間點。
莎娃接受《紐約時報》採訪時說：「我不須走到球場向全世界的球迷宣告，這是我最後一
場比賽，即便是在我更年輕的時候，我也不希望是以這樣的方式結束職業生涯。」
同時莎娃也提到上月澳網女單首輪不敵克羅埃西亞維姬琪（Donna Vekic）後便飛往洛杉
磯，也因為湖人傳奇布萊恩（Kobe Bryant）的意外離世，讓她意識到自己該和網球說再
見。
莎娃說：「其實原本我們約好見面，時間是科比發生墜機意外的3天後。如果某件事讓你
意識到人生的意義，那這一刻你就要好好思考未來。」
莎娃也提及網球對她的人生意義，這28年的網球生涯就好像在爬一座山，現在她已做好攀
登另一座高山的準備，開啟人生新篇章。

Kobe Bryant heartbreak helped Maria Sharapova with retirement decision

A number of factors influenced Maria Sharapova’s decision to retire at 32 yea
rs old, including a close relationship with Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who had
been an “incredible sounding board” throughout her career.
Bryant died at 41 in a helicopter crash on Jan. 26.
“We were supposed to see each other like three days after the crash,” Sharap
ova told the New York Times.
The tragedy helped her come to terms with retirement, a decision which she had
made on the flight home from the 2020 Australian Open. She was eliminated in
the first round on Jan. 20 against Donna Veki , and her dour post-match inter
views cast uncertainty on her future in the sport.
“It’s tough for me to tell what’s going to happen in 12 months’ time,” sh
e told reporters after the match.
It would be Sharapova’s final tour appearance.
“I think we all seem at times in our journey like larger than life because of
what we do, but everyone at the core is incredibly fragile,” she said reflec
ting on Bryant’s death. “And if anything it just opens up your eyes to what
really matters in life, so that was a moment where I had a really good think a
bout my future as well.”
