It not just the visual quality either; the storytelling quality is fucking ama
zing, too. I could go on for forever about all of the emotions this cinematic
portrays, but I think the biggest thing for me was watching the troll characte
r become disillusioned with Saurfang over the course of the cinematic. If you
put yourself in his shoes, to many young boys their father is their hero and Z
appy boi's father very clearly saw Saurfang as a living legend and hero. What
would the do to you as a child to hear from your hero that Saurfang was the st
rongest most tough warrior in all of Azeroth? It would cause you to basically
deify Saurfang purely because your hero respected him so much and spoke so hig
hly of him.
Then to watch as Zappy boi slowly realizes that Saurfang has given up and only
seeks to die fighting is fucking heartbreaking. He's realizing that the perso
n he placed on a pedestal for most of his life is deeply flawed, and has ultim
ately given up on the only thing you have left in the world: the Horde. Furthe
rmore, watching Saurfang slowly realize himself that Zappy boi idolizes him an
d sees him as a symbol of hope in the face of certain death is incredible to w
atch. It's almost like he's beginning to see some of his own child in the boy
standing in front of him, as if his innocence brings him back from despair and
let's Saurfang see that he represents hope to the parts of the Horde that he'
s still willing to fight for, and ultimately loves. It's so, so fucking good.
