It looks like all the stops are being pulled out for #DL2.
While Dua Lipa is still enjoying the success of her debut album, it hasn't
stopped her from getting in the recording studio for what we can only assume
(hope) will be a swift follow-up.
Dua's big breakthrough came last summer, when New Rules spent two weeks at
Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart. The track is still making its way up
the charts across the globe, having reached a new peak at Number 8 on this
week's US Billboard Hot 100.
Her latest single in the UK, IDGAF, is currently scaling the UK Top 40, but
its worth noting that it's the sixth spin-off from her self-titled,
BRIT-nominated album, so we can hardly blame her for wanting to crack on with
album two. Look at Dua's complete UK chart history here.
Having kept a close eye on her social channels over the past few weeks, it
looks like all the stops are being pulled out for #DL2. Earlier this week she
posted a snap in the studio with Mark Ronson and Diplo along with the caption
"Today <3". Both are more than capable of delivering smash hits own, which
makes their possible collaboration very exciting.
Meanwhile, on a recent trip to Jamaica Dua posted a picture of herself
between vocal takes as well as a late night photo with Caroline Ailin, a
Swedish songwriter who worked on much of Dua's debut.
Dua's Instagram stories over the past few weeks have also seen her hanging
out with MNEK (Little Mix's Touch, Jax Jones' You Don't Know Me), US producer
Andrew Wyatt (Lorde, Bruno Mars), Sarah Hudson (Katy Perry, Camila Cabello)
and Justin Tranter, who has co-written global smashes for Justin Bieber and
Selena Gomez.
The star has also been spotted with up-and-comers King Henry and Sasha Sloan,
both of who could be interesting collaborators for Dua.
Dua's debut was the biggest selling debut album by a female artist of 2017,
and the fifth biggest debut of the year overall behind Rag'n'Bone Man, Liam
Gallagher, Stormzy and Harry Styles.
The collection recently bounced back into the Official Albums Chart Top 10
off the back of IDGAF's release, closing in on its Number 5 peak on the week
of its release. Look back at the UK's Official biggest albums of 2017 here.
