我都這樣解釋：
In Taiwan we have our own calendar and the first year started in 1911.
To convert the year in the taiwanese civil calendar to the Gregorian calendar,
simply add 1911 to the year.
Take myself as an example: I was born in year 82 according to the taiwanese
civil calendar, which means my birth year is 1993 (1911+82) in the Gregorian
calendar.
【詞彙解釋】
civil calendar: 指一國家內為公民、行政以及官方目的所使用的一種(或其中一種)
曆法。
Gregorian calendar: 即全世界廣泛通行的西曆，由教宗格列哥里13世所創。

民国は台湾の年号で、日本の平成とか昭和みたいものっていいじゃない？みたいと言ったら、ほとんどの日本人は「おぉ、あーそうなんだ、なるほどね」しか言わないから、簡単で分かりやすい説明した方がいいと思うな。
