Could you help me to correct the sentence below:
"Always asking the female classmate who was next to him for a candy！"

這裡不是這個網站裡所提到的第2種情況..
因為這裡的結構是：關代+"be V",(後面沒有"現分/過分"),
是第3種情況：關代後直接接上V(於此為"be V"："was"),
省略時將V改寫為"現分(V-ing)",所以
who was next to him ===> being next to him
可是我聽到的都是"next to him", 而不是"being next to him"！
誰可以導正我的盲點！ > <

你的問題在於把be動詞視為動詞，它具有動詞的特性沒錯，但是在這裡因為後面加上形容詞片語，所以我會把它寫成單純用形容詞片語去形容名詞，而不是形容詞子句。如果原句是who was being next to hime的話，表示強調存在的being，我就會保留它。
