Focus Features has set a Nov. 24, 2017, release date for Gary Oldman’s
“Darkest Hour” in the U.S.
焦點影業確定將在2017年11月24日於美國上映蓋瑞．歐德曼新作《最黑暗的時刻》。
Universal Pictures International is handling international distribution,
starting with the U.K. on Dec. 29, 2017.
環球影業則得到該電影的國際發行權，2017年12月29日在英國上映，並陸續於各國發行。
Oldman has been attached to play British Prime Minister Winston Churchill
since April. Production is set to begin this fall.
劇組今年四月起便開始聯繫歐德曼，希望由他出演英國首相溫斯頓．邱吉爾。電影將於今
年秋季投入製作。
The cast includes John Hurt as Neville Chamberlain, whom Churchill succeeded
as Prime Minister; Lily James (“Downton Abbey”) as Churchill’s personal
secretary; Ben Mendelsohn as King George VI; and Kristin Scott Thomas as
Churchill’s wife, Clementine.

Joe Wright is directing “Darkest Hour,” derived from Churchill’s phrase to
describe the period of World War II between the fall of France in June 1940
and the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union a year later in 1941, when the
British Empire stood alone against Nazi Germany and the Axis Powers in
Europe. During that period, the United Kingdom was under threat of invasion
and bombardment with over 1,500 civilians dying in London alone in a single
night from Lufwaffe bombing raids on May 10, 1941.
《最黑暗的時刻》由喬．萊特執導，片名取自邱吉爾本人的原話，描述1940年6月法國淪陷
到1941年6月納粹入侵蘇聯，期間僅大英帝國獨自面對歐洲軸心國勢力。這段期間，英國籠

Churchill became Prime Minister in May 1940, and was under pressure to
appease Germany. Three weeks after taking office, a quickly assembled British
fleet of more than 800 boats saved more than 335,000 soldiers who had been
cut off by the German army at Dunkirk on the French coast. As the rescue was
concluding, Churchill told Parliament, “We shall fight on beaches, we shall
fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in fields and in the streets, we
shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender.”
邱吉爾於1940年5月成為首相，他上任後即遭受朝野要求姑息德國的壓力。三個禮拜後，英

Anthony McCarten, who received Oscar nominations for writing and producing
Working Title’s “The Theory of Everything,” is the screenwriter and
producer on “Darkest Hour.” Lisa Bruce and Working Title co-chiefs Tim
Bevan and Eric Fellner are also producing.
曾以Working Title製片《愛的萬物論》獲得奧斯卡最佳改編劇本提名的Anthony McCarten
將擔任《最黑暗的時刻》的編劇與製作人。Lisa Bruce與Working Title成員Tim Bevan、
Eric Fellner也將參與本片製作。
Oldman previously worked with Working Title on “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,”
for which he received a best actor Academy Award nomination for his portrayal
of George Smiley.
歐德曼此前便在《諜影行動》中與Working Title合作，他在該片中飾演George Smiley，
精彩演出獲得奧斯卡最佳男主角提名的肯定。
Wright previous directed “Pride & Prejudice,” “Atonement,” and “Anna
Karenina” for Working Title and Focus.

近年二戰電影好像又變多了？
這個題材，感覺蓋瑞叔想要再次衝擊奧斯卡影帝？
《哈利波特》跟《黑暗騎士三部曲》裡頭我最喜歡的角色都是蓋瑞．歐德曼演的，所以看
到他要拍攝新作真的很開心。不過蓋瑞叔瘦瘦的，演胖胖的邱吉爾好有反差感XDD。
順帶一提，《哈利波特》中與天狼星．布萊克同為劫盜者一員的彼得．佩迪魯，其飾演者
Timothy Spall也在《王者之聲：宣戰時刻》中飾演邱吉爾。
