大家好，我是今年要到 UC Santa Cruz 念社會學博士班的學生，
最近也在考慮健康保險的問題，想先分享我找到的資訊，也希望能獲得相關建議。
UC 系統的學生健康保險 UC SHIP 今年漲價，Grad Student 一年要繳 3699 美元。
因為我還不能當學校的 TA，現在是拿台灣的公費，所以等於要自己支出這筆費用，
因此這幾天也開始在考慮，是不是有可能保外面公司的健康保險，然後 waive UC SHIP。
我這幾天開始找尋相關資料，看到很多和 ISO、PSI 類似的國際學生健康保險，
我整理了一下如下：

找到可能的替代保險不是最困難的，
最困難的可能是要如何保證可以通過學校的 waive 標準。
UCSC 的 Waive Criteria 寫得很模糊，所以我已經寫信去問，
不過大概是長這樣 (我想其他 UC 學校可能也可以參考)：
在一份簡報檔 Health Insurance 101 裡有提到：

You Can Waive If Your Plan…
* Covers hospitalization for medical, surgical, pregnancy and mental
health conditions
* Covers doctors office visits for medical and mental health conditions
* Covers prescribed medications
* Covers illness and injury caused by alcohol or drug use
* Covers services related to injuries from all recreational sports
* Has an Annual Deductible of less than $7,500 (unless you have a
Health Savings account with this deductible)
* For Medical and Mental Health Services, has co-insurance paid at 70%
or higher
* Does not have a pre-existing condition limitation
* Has repatriation coverage
另外，在學校的 Online Waiver 系統裡有另一個檔案，

不過這個檔案裡有超多問題，我實在不知道是不是要滿足每個條件，
才能符合 Waive 的標準？
另外，還需要注意的是，如果拿 J1 簽證，也需要滿足美國政府的規定：

雖然目前我看起來，蠻多國際學生的健康保險都標榜他們已經滿足 J1 Visa 的要求。
