For 9-year-old Nylah's first-ever plane ride, her mom Nikki came prepared to h
elp our crew understand how to help her daughter's trip go smoothly. The notes
Nylah handed out read:
“This is my first time flying on an airplane... I’m very friendly and love t
o chat with people, so if you need any help passing out snacks or greeting peo
ple, I’m your girl! I would love to be helpful!”
Throughout the flight, our crew invited Nylah to pass out drinks and snacks. O
n the return trip, she was invited to the flight deck to meet the captain and
first officer. But for a parent traveling with a child with autism, Tourette S
yndrome, ADHD, anxiety and OCD, this was about much more than a VIP experience
.
Nikki shared that the United team “showed true kindness. They took a potentia
lly difficult situation and made it such a positive experience for all of us.
Thank you for getting us to our destination and for making a potentially diffi
cult situation into a beautiful memory.”
We can't wait to see where Nylah's adventures take her next.
