Hu has shown impressive feel for a deep arsenal since signing with the Twins
out of Taiwan for $220,000 in 2012. The Rays took notice of the
right-hander's development and acquired him from Minnesota as part of the
Kevin Jepsen deal at the Trade Deadline in 2015. Hu continued to excel
against older hitters in his first year with the Rays, earning Southern
League All-Star honors at Double-A Montgomery as well as a chance to pitch
for the World team in the SiriusXM All-Stars Future Game in July. Following
the season, the Rays added Hu to their 40-man roster.

Hu operates in the low 90s with late life but shows consistent plus velocity
in shorter bursts. His changeup is a plus pitch as well as his best secondary
weapon, one he throws against hitters on both sides of the plate, and he's
adept at mixing in a legitimate palmball. Hu also has a curveball and a
slider, the latter flashing above-average potential with cutter action.

the Double-A level. With his combination of stuff and pitchability, Hu has an
attractive floor as a No. 4 starter capable of surpassing that projection
