RetroArch is a modular multi-system emulator that is designed to be fast,
lightweight and portable. Dedicated to Linux, Windows, Mac OS X and BSD. It
is formerly known as SSNES.
This is not a Frontend per se, nor a truly multi-emulator.
It actually uses existing emulators (core) libraries as a "libretro XXX.dll"
file. Nor is it a simple front end, because it offers the complete emulation
of several console platforms and even final burn alpha.
Currently, there are libretro implementations for systems such as SNES, NES,
GBA, GB / GBC, Genesis, and even Final Burn Alpha arcade games and many more.

Libretro is not only usable for emulators. A preliminary port of an open
source re-implementation of Cave Story has also been ported to libretro.
RetroArch believes in modularity. The application itself is a command-line
application that is suitable for HTPC and others. There is also a graphical
interface for RetroArch, supporting all the unique configuration options.
RetroArch sets the standard for cross-platform portability for the moment:
- Linux (x86 and x86_64)
- Windows (32bit / 64bit)

- Playstation 3 (PS3 SDK / PSL1GHT (WIP))

NOTA BENE for XP:
If the executable does not launch, create a file "RetroArch.exe.manifest"
(editable with any notepad) and write the following lines inside:

then save and finally put this file next to the executable (and it's all
good!).
