islands “until such time as the politico-military situation in the Far East
becomes stabilized in a way favorable to U.S. security interests.” I fully
concur in this view."
"calls for recommendations by the Departments of State and Defense to the
President concerning the long-term military requirements of the United States
in and about the Ryukyus, Bonins, and other islands covered by Article 3 of
the Peace Treaty with Japan. "
