Vlade Divac
Once an NBA All-Star, Vlade Divac likely deserved a better exit from the
league than the one he got during his final professional season with the
Lakers. Divac had a strange history with L.A.; the Serbian big man was
drafted by the team in the 1989 NBA Draft, and was later traded away to the
Charlotte Hornets so the Lakers could secure the draft rights to Kobe Bryant.
After six seasons with the Sacramento Kings, some of which were spent engaged
in a fierce rivalry with Shaquille O'Neal's Lakers, Divac made his return to
Los Angeles during the 2004 offseason.
曾經是NBA全明星，相較於他在湖人的最後職業賽季，聯盟實在值得給他

Re-claiming his position down low, Divac was supposed to fill in for Shaq
after he had been traded to the Miami Heat. However, Divac's body had other
plans. At age 36, Divac's back finally gave out to the point that he could no
longer play. Appearing in just 15 games for the team, Divac was forced to
retire in July of 2005, ending his 16-year career on a rather sour note

After his retirement, Divac returned to his native Serbia, engaging in
humanitarian relief efforts and appearing in a handful of films, including
ESPN's 2010 documentary, Once Brother, a "30 For 30" project which told the
story of Divac's troubled friendship with the late Drazen Petrovic.

Devean George
Devean George was a frustrating player for Los Angeles Lakers faithful, often
regarded as a talented athlete who could never reach his full potential
during his seven seasons. Even when George was playing alongside Gary Payton,
Shaq, Karl Malone, and Kobe, he was as pedestrian as ever, seeing only the
slightest uptick in statistical output. Following the 2005-06 season, George
and the Lakers parted ways, as he signed a 2-year/$4.2M deal with the Dallas
Mavericks

From there, George slowly faded out of the league, playing a few seasons in
Dallas before finishing out his career with the Golden State Warriors in
2010. As the first-ever Division III college basketball player to be drafted
in the first round of the NBA Draft, George's career wasn't necessarily
disappointing, but he could also be regarded as a minor bust, having failed
to ever average more than 7.4 PPG.

Today, George serves as the founder and CEO of George Group North, a real
estate company based in his native Minnesota. In 2013, the Minneapolis
Star-Tribune reported that George's company was working to build 45
affordable housing units in the Minneapolis area as a part of his youth
outreach program, George's Building Blocks.

Brian Grant
Collected as a part of the trade that sent Shaquille O'Neal to the Miami
Heat, Brian Grant was nearing the end of his career when he joined the Lakers
for his 11th season in the NBA. Playing in 69 games, but starting just eight
of them, Grant was a largely incidental piece of the Los Angeles roster for
the 2004-05 season, serving as yet another reminder of just how little the
Lakers managed to receive in exchange for their coveted big man.

In the following offseason, Grant was cut by the Lakers and then signed with
the Phoenix Suns, where he appeared in only 21 games during the 2005-06
season. However, for what it's worth, Grant's new team was able to take down
the Lakers in five games during the 2006 postseason. Later in the year, after
Grant had been traded away to Boston Celtics as a part of a deal for Rajon
Rondo's draft rights, he retired, citing injuries and diminishing play as his
reasons for hanging it up after 12 seasons.

Tragically, Grant learned that he was suffering from early-onset Parkinson's
disease in 2008, two years after his career had ended. Now, Grant works as an
outspoken activist for Parkinson's disease charities across the country,
including his own, the Brian Grant Foundation. In May of 2013, Grant climbed
Mt. St. Helens in an effort to raise money and awareness for the disease,
chronicling his climb in a video called, "Power Forward."

Jumaine Jones
Starting at small forward for 23 games throughout the 2004-05 season, Jumaine
Jones represented the peak of the Los Angeles Lakers' struggle roster in
their first season without Shaquille O'Neal. Prior to Shaq's exit, Jones
would've had no place in Los Angeles. The Clippers? Sure. But Kobe & Co. was
supposed to be better than a scrub small forward like Jones.

filled. As a result, Jones took to the court on a regular basis for Los

inhabited the roster. 7.6 PPG isn't terribly impressive, but when you compare
it to guys like Brian Cook or Luke Walton, Jones suddenly isn't looking too
shabby.

around the world, playing for teams in Russia, Israel, Italy, Puerto Rice,
and Bulgaria. He is not yet officially retired from professional

Stanislav Medvedenko
Slava Medvedenko (or, as Stephen A. Smith calls him, Sla-va Med-ve-den-ko)
was, amazingly, on the Los Angeles Lakers roster for six entire seasons,
playing sparingly while Shaquille O'Neal and other, more legitimate talents
filled up the stat sheet for L.A.

Even when Shaq took off, Medvedenko was still held from the starting lineup,
starting just four games in the two seasons he played for Los Angeles
following the 2003-04 season (though, to be fair, a herniated disc kept him
out of nearly the entire 2006 NBA season). Regardless, there was nothing
particularly inspiring or memorable about Medvedenko's game. He shot too
much, he couldn't play defense, and his speed was often a liability. If
anything, Medvedenko was just an icon for how poorly constructed Kobe's team
was in the post-Shaq era.

Today, little is known about Medvedenko's whereabouts. In 2011, ESPN reported
that Medvedenko was assisting former NBA head coach Mike Fratello in the
Ukrainian basketball leagues. An obscure blog called Searching For Slava
reported the same details back in May.

Chris Mihm
Chris Mihm was the type of player who made you believe that any old 7-footer
could make it into the NBA, simply based on his height. Okay, maybe that's
not completely fair, given that Mihm was once a first-team All-American at
the University of Texas. However, in the context of great Lakers centers,
Mihm was no Kareem Abdul-Jabbar or George Mikan. He wasn't even a Vlade Divac.

Acquired by the Lakers in the same trade that gave them Chucky Atkins and
Jumaine Jones, Mihm played for Los Angeles up until the 2009 season, when he
was traded away to the Memphis Grizzlies. However, nagging ankle injuries
(which had sidelined Mihm for the entire 2006-07 season) forced an early end
to his career, as he retired at the age of 29.

Lamar Odom
Regarded as a major piece in the Shaquille O'Neal trade, Lamar Odom was the
only former Miami Heat player who managed to make a sustaining impact for the
Lakers. Playing the role as a chief sidekick to Kobe, and a star player off
the bench, Odom helped Los Angeles regain their championship form in 2009 and
2010 when they beat the Orlando Magic and the Boston Celtics to win
back-to-back NBA titles.

Kareem Rush wasn't known for much during his Los Angeles Lakers tenure aside
from the miraculous game he had against the Minnesota Timberwolves during
Game 6 of the 2004 Western Conference Finals, during which he hit six
consecutive three-pointers.

However, Rush's happy days in Los Angeles were short-lived as he was traded
away to the Charlotte Bobcats midway through the 2004-05 season, taking his

professional basketball with teams like the Pacers, 76ers, and the Los
Angeles D-Fenders, Rush finally stepped away from the game in January, four
years removed from his last stint in the NBA.

Sasha Vujacic
Selected in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft, Sasha Vujacic came into a
Lakers organization that was spiritually distant from the glorious past its
name often represents. Honestly, he didn't help Los Angeles' situation very
much either. Vujacic never panned out the way one would expect or hope from a
first-round pick, a lack of development which prompted his exit from the
league following the 2010-11 regular season.

Certainly, Vujacic was a welcome contributor off the bench for the Lakers,

from a brief, 10-day contract he signed with the Clippers last season,
Vujacic's recent time as a professional basketball player has been spent
abroad, in places like Turkey and Italy.

Luke Walton
Amazingly, out of all the players on this list, it was Luke Walton who would
last the longest with the Lakers organization. Of course, Walton would never
live up to his namesake in the NBA, but he did manage to hang around for 10
seasons in the league and now serves as an assistant coach for Steve Kerr on
the Golden State Warriors.
