Best thing
1. Yankees and Red Sox every season
Your two weekends a year to catch a playoff atmosphere. (AKA your two
weekends a year to gouge your northern transplant neighbor with ticket
resale.)
2. Road trips to Arlington
The only reasonably driveable road city is on the agenda three times a year
instead of just once, so ample chances to pack up the car and stop at Six
Flags when it's too darn hot to sit on a plastic ballpark seat.
3. Annual jaunts to Toronto
Because 125 feet is a grounder to short, but 125 metres is outta here.
4. No more Cubs fans
Why do they play that song that goes "the Cubs are gonna win today" when the
game is already over?
5. Couldn't get pitchers out anyway
The Astros gave up six homers to pitchers last year, more than any other
team. Why would you want to stay in the pitchers bat league?
Worst thing
1. No more family reunions
No visits from the Phillies means we'll have to call our old friends every
Sunday night to check in.
2. Losing a switch-hitter
Wandy Rodriguez is a career .144 hitter, but there's something pretty cool
about a switch-hitting pitcher.
3. New president
It will certainly take an adjustment period to get used to having Jackie
Autry (widow of Gene Autry) as your league's honorary president instead of
Bill Giles. We'll all grow accustomed eventually.
4. Exchange of cities
Take your pick, traveling fans: Los Angeles or Anaheim? San Francisco or
Oakland? Miami or St. Petersburg? North Side or South Side? That's what we
thought.
5. More West Coast 9 p.m. starts
You ever hear Brownie and JD at that hour when the FCC loosens up a bit?
No Cards. No Cubbies. No pitchers hitting.
投票會通過的原因大概是多了一個肉靶增加勝場數。
