Would I have agreed to the trade if I were running the Royals? No, I wouldn't

develop pitching on its own and, not coincidentally, hasn't been able to
return to contention.

righthander Alex Colome, Montgomery fitting in the mid-teens and Leonard
appearing in the bottom third of the Top 30. Those four players have boosted
the Rays system from the middle of the pack to the upper quartile.
