J.J. Barea warmly welcomed back in the locker room, on the court

It was like old times — 2011, to be exact — at American Airlines Center on
Thursday, starting with the morning shootaround.
這天早上在AAC的投籃訓練，就像過去(2011賽季)一樣。
“All of a sudden I walk in and we’ve got the giant and the little person
back,” said 7-foot-1 Tyson Chandler, the giant, referring to the returns of
himself and 6-foot J.J. Barea. “I love it.
“The thing it does is brings a little of that experience throughout the
locker room, spread it out a little bit so we can push this thing, push it
the right way.”
Chandler returned via trade this summer. Barea was signed to the
veteran-minimum contract on Wednesday, after negotiating a buyout with
Minnesota.

Barea received a standing ovation when he was introduced as “numero cinco”
and another when he entered the game late in the first quarter.
Barea finished with 4 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 18 minutes as the
Mavericks blew out a tired Utah team. Not bad for a guy who has yet to have
his first full practice with his new teammates.

“Yeah I was nervous,” Barea said. “I haven’t been nervous in a while so
it was a great feeling that I was missing.”
Nerves don’t enter the equation as often when you play in Minnesota. Neither
do the playoffs. The Wolves never made the postseason during Barea’s three
seasons there.
“I’ve got to get my mind back to where it was,” Barea said. “Every game
here is serious and we’re trying to win every game and we’ve got the team
to be in every game so yeah I just got to get use to the pace again. This
pace was crazy tonight up and down so I’ve got to get back to everything.”

Dirk Nowitzki was asked if it felt strange coming into the locker room and
seeing not only Chandler, but Barea, two mainstays from the 2011 championship
team.
“I said this morning I’m going to call (retired 2011 teammates) Peja
(Stojakovic) and Brian Cardinal back up, see if they still can move somehow,”
Nowitzki said with a laugh. “It’s great to see those guys. It meant a lot
to the fans.
“All summer, all around here it was ‘We got Tyson back!’ Everybody is
excited about what we’ve put together.”
當被問到進入更衣室時看到2011年的兩位老隊友時是否會覺得奇怪時，
Dirk笑著說：＂我早上就說要打電話給Peja和Cardinal，看他們還能不能動啊！
能看到他們真的很棒，對球迷來說這意義重大啊！
對於能再次湊在一起，大家都很興奮吧！＂
