The Cleveland Cavaliers need players to help them get through the regular seas
on, which means they'll have to clear up a roster spot.
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, the Cavaliers will aggressively pursue a
trade involving Chris Andersen in order to open up roster space:
"A source familiar with Cleveland's roster plans told ESPN the Cavs will aggre
ssively pursue trade destinations for the injured Chris "Birdman" Andersen to
try to open up another roster spot that could be used to land a buyout player."
Andersen was ruled out for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL suffered i
n December. The 38-year-old veteran signed a one-year deal with the Cavaliers
before the season started, so his expiring contract could come in handy for a
team looking to clear cap space.
While the Cavaliers already have a roster spot open at the current moment, mos
t believe it will be used on a point guard. Cleveland still has a pressing nee
d for an additional big man, especially considering Kevin Love's back issues.
