DALLAS – Two days after returning from a trip to China, a few members of the
Dallas Mavericks have been sidelined with a stomach virus.

Rookies Kostas Antetokounmpo and Ryan Broekhoff, assistant coaches Darrell
Armstrong and Stephen Silas, and assistant trainer Dionne Calhoun all missed
Thursday’s practice while dealing with the nasty bug.

Coach Rick Carlisle said the Mavs are doing the best they can in hoping that
the bug doesn’t spread to any of his other players or staff members.

“Broekhoff missed practice today with a stomach bug, Antetokounmpo missed it,
” Carlisle said. “He missed the second half yesterday and he missed today.

“Dionne Calhoun, our assistant trainer, missed today. Steve Silas missed
today. We’re all trying to avoid it. Everybody’s washing their hands a lot

The Mavs played two preseason games against the Philadelphia 76ers in China —
last Friday and this past Monday. The Mavs arrived back in Dallas from that
eight-day trip this past Tuesday at 3 a.m.

Dallas (2-1) will play its final preseason game on Friday at 6 p.m. at
American Airlines Center against the Charlotte Hornets (3-1). Whether the
sick players and staff members will be available, no one knows for sure.
