Cowboys acquired WR Amari Cooper from the Raiders in exchange for a
first-round pick.
The 3-4 Cowboys — who have featured an unwatchable passing offense this
season — are going for it in the wide-open NFC East while the 1-5 Raiders
are accelerating their tank in year one of coach Jon Gruden's 10-year, $100
million contract. One of the most inscrutable players in football, Cooper has
baffled the past two seasons after beginning his career with back-to-back
1,000-yard campaigns, but he is still only 24 with loads of talent. There are
better offenses he could have joined in terms of goosing his production, but
he will be the centerpiece of the Cowboys' previously receiver-desperate
attack. Cooper is under team control through 2019.
