EXCLUSIVE: The Weinstein Co. is pushing Alfonso Gomez-Rejon’s The Current
War off its Black Friday Nov. 24 release to a 2018 date still to be
determined.
知名娛樂新聞網站Deadline.com最近在哈維溫斯坦醜聞在好萊塢蔓延之際，又搶先
挖出了一則相關獨家，那就是，溫斯坦影業決定將戈梅茲雷瓊(Alfonso Gomez-
Rejon，代表作有入選金馬影展的我們的故事未完待續)執導的新片「電流大戰」
從原本感恩節隔天的黑色星期五撤檔，挪後到2018年待確認的日期。
The period piece follows Thomas Edison (Benedict Cumberbatch) and George
Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) as they race against each other to control the
nation’s electricity with their respective systems. The Current War
premiered to lackluster reviews at the Toronto Film Festival, with criticism
over its length and pacing. Since then, Gomez-Rejon and editor David
Trachtenberg have shaved 12 minutes off the movie.
這部由班奈迪克康柏貝區飾演愛迪生、麥克夏農飾演西屋電器創辦人喬治威斯汀豪斯
的古裝劇情片，描述這兩個人為了全國電力資源的控制權，進而演變成一場競爭遊戲

Still, in the wake of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment scandal, there’s
a toxicity in the marketplace that would kill this movie, especially with
Cumberbatch blasting Weinstein on Tuesday, saying, “I am utterly disgusted
by the continuing revelations of Harvey Weinstein’s horrifying and
unforgivable actions…We need to collectively stand up and support victims of
abuse such as the brave and inspiring women who have spoken out against him
and say we hear you and believe you.” Distance is the best ally for The
Current War as the Weinstein Co. reviews its release options.
然而，此電影投資者哈維溫斯坦近來爆點越來越多的性騷掃醜聞風暴，卻很有可能
嚴重傷害它在商業市場上的表現，尤其男主角班奈迪克本身也發表了一則聲明譴責
溫斯坦，表示「我完全無法接受溫斯坦那些可怕又不可原諒並且持續被揭發的行為
，我們必須團結起來支持那些願意坦承並反抗他(溫斯坦)的女性受害者，並且回應
『我們聽見而且願意你們』」。對溫斯坦影業來說，讓「電流大戰」跟最近的是非

22日於全美廣泛上映(註︰台灣預定的檔期是12月8日，由車庫發行)
The Current War was originally scheduled to open in a limited number of
theaters on Nov. 24. The Thanksgiving stretch has historically been a prime
launching pad for TWC, with such Oscar winners as The King’s Speech, The
Artist, and The Imitation Game in that space.
「電流大戰」原先預定在感恩節假期做限量戲院搶先上映的計畫，一直以來都是溫斯
坦影業行之有年的年終檔期排片策略，有不少奧斯卡得獎電影如王者之聲、大藝術家
與模仿遊戲，都是在此時作為北美首映的起始點。
