At first I thought I was going to see a scary ghost story, but it turned out
differently. I read story at night, so as to add more mysterious atmosphere.
After reading the story, I realized I had a biased prejudgement. I did feel
a little chilly when the protagonist saw women struggling to come out in the
wallpaper; hence, I was convinced that there were spirits inside the house. At
the end, I sympathize with the protagonist because the ghosts are actually her
self-projection. There is no ghosts in the story, but only a ghostlike woman
imprisoned in the house, desperate to get out by her rich imagination.
