Coghlan told MLB.com's Adam Berry he felt bad about the injury and sent Kang
a letter after the game, but he also said he didn't feel the slide was out of
line.
"I'm completely within the rules. It just stinks because he didn't have time
to jump over me,"

Kang released a statement through agent Alan Nero Thursday night, in which he
acknowledged a "serious injury" and also absolved Coghlan of blame. Here is
his statement:
"It is unfortunate that what would be considered heads up baseball would
cause such a serious injury. That said, Coghlan was playing the game the way
it should be played. I'm confident he meant me no harm. I appreciate
everyone's support."
