The Rockies appear to be closing in on signing right-handed power-hitting 1B
Mark Reynolds.
The Colorado Rockies are zeroing in on free-agent 1B Mark Reynolds, according
to reports from Jon Heyman late Wednesday night from the Winter Meetings in
Nashville:

Reynolds hit .230/.315/.398 last season with 13 home runs, which was good for
a 97 wRC+. He hit more than 20 home runs in the three seasons prior to 2015,
and over 30 home runs a year in the three seasons prior to that.
Unfortunately for a lineup that has been historically strike-prone enough,
Reynolds has a 28% career strikeout rate.
This continues a potentially unsettling trend of the Rockies seeking to add
veteran, middling Major League talent where many on the Purple Row staff
believe the team should be subtracting from the big league roster and
stockpiling assets for the future. Of course, we won't know for sure if these
concepts are mutually exclusive until the offseason is over.
Notably, a short-term deal for Reynolds would give the Rockies some temporary
right-handed power at first base, a platoon option to pair with Ben Paulsen,
and eventually, a potential trade chip as contenders search for power bats.
It appears as though a one-year deal is likely:

Stay tuned to Purple Row for details on Reynolds if and when the signing
becomes official, as well as everything else during and after the Winter
Meetings.
