於是，耶穌對門徒說：
「我實在告訴你們：富人難進天國。
我再告訴你們：駱駝穿過針孔，比富人進天國還容易。」
門徒們聽了，就非常驚異說：
「這樣，誰還能得救呢？」
耶穌注視他們說：
「為人這是不可能的；但為天主，一切都是可能的。」
那時，伯多祿開口對他說：
「看，我們捨棄了一切，跟隨了你；
那麼，將來我們可得到什麼呢？」
耶穌對他們說：
「我實在告訴你們：
你們這些跟隨我的人，在重生的世代，人子坐在自己光榮的寶座上時，
你們也要坐在十二寶座上，審判以色列十二支派；
並且，凡為我的名，
捨棄了房屋、或兄弟、或姊妹、或父親、或母親、或妻子、或兒女、或田地的，
必要領取百倍的賞報，並承受永生。
有許多在先的要成為在後的，在後的要成為在先的。」
Gospel MT 19:23-30
Jesus said to his disciples:
"Amen, I say to you,
it will be hard for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of heaven.
Again I say to you,
it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle
than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God."
When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said,
"Who then can be saved?"
Jesus looked at them and said,
"For men this is impossible,
but for God all things are possible."
Then Peter said to him in reply,
"We have given up everything and followed you.
What will there be for us?"
Jesus said to them,
"Amen, I say to you that you who have followed me,
in the new age, when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory,
will yourselves sit on twelve thrones,
judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters
or father or mother or children or lands
for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more,
and will inherit eternal life.
But many who are first will be last,
and the last will be first."

（そのとき、）
イエスは弟子たちに言われた。
「はっきり言っておく。
金持ちが天の国に入るのは難しい。
重ねて言うが、
金持ちが神の国に入るよりも、
らくだが針の穴を通る方がまだ易しい。」
弟子たちはこれを聞いて非常に驚き、
「それでは、だれが救われるのだろうか」と言った。
イエスは彼らを見つめて、
「それは人間にできることではないが、神は何でもできる」と言われた。
すると、ペトロがイエスに言った。
「このとおり、わたしたちは何もかも捨ててあなたに従って参りました。
では、わたしたちは何をいただけるのでしょうか。」
イエスは一同に言われた。
「はっきり言っておく。
新しい世界になり、人の子が栄光の座に座るとき、
あなたがたも、わたしに従って来たのだから、
十二の座に座ってイスラエルの十二部族を治めることになる。
わたしの名のために、家、兄弟、姉妹、父、母、子供、畑を捨てた者は皆、
その百倍もの報いを受け、永遠の命を受け継ぐ。
しかし、
先にいる多くの者が後になり、
後にいる多くの者が先になる。」
