請問各位:
I heard on the radio that there is evidence that dophins suffer in capitivity
. Dolphins that are free in [X] nature live around 40 years. Captive dophins
live [an] average of 12 years.
第一個[]不能用the是因為nature不能指定，可是我們如果都知道不是要用the嗎?
第二個是看作某一個平均的意思嗎? 前一句算提到存活壽命嗎? 想說可以用the...
剛剛看到另一句:
How many tooth does the average person have?
為什麼這邊就可以用the呢?

如果有複數個存在所以需要確認是哪一個而也知道是哪一個時才用the 這邊的nature是"自然"這個環境的意思(大自然; 自然界) 恰恰就只有一個所以無需冠詞這邊nature的用法或許可歸類到proper name的用法如Nuw York, Tokyo...只是現在沒人會寫成"N"ature了

可以理解成不大寫的專有名詞，或是習慣用法。附帶一提，space（太空）也是這種用法。
