試題 :
1. Please answer the following question.
>What is right-handed elliptically polarized light? What is Fermat's
principle in explaining the reflection and refraction of light? (5%)
>Explain the cause of magnetism. What is hysteresis? (5%)
>What is Eddy current? Why is it important that each slit is as narrow as
possible in the Young's double-slit experiment? (5%)
2. Two parallel rails with negligible resistance are 10.0 cm apart and are
connected by a 5.0 Ω resister. The circuit also contains two metal rods
having resistance of 10.0 Ω and 15.0 Ω sliding along the rails (see
Fig. 1). The rods are pulled away from the resister at constant speeds of
4.0 m/s and 2.0 m/s, respectively. A uniform magnetic field of magnitude
0.01 T is applied perpendicular to the plane of the rails. Determine the
current of the 5.0-Ω resistor. (10%)
3. House current, which has an rms voltage of 110 V and a frequency of 60 Hz,
drives a resistor of a variable inductance, connected in series. (a) What is
the power absorbed by the circuit if L = 10 mH? (b) What would be the power
drawn be if the resistance were halved without changing the setting of the
inductance? (c) What is the maximum power drawn in part (b)? (15%)
4. The switch in Fig. 2 is connected to a point a for a long time. After the
switch is thrown to point b, what are the (a) frequency of oscillation of
the LC circuit, (b) the maximum current in the inductor, and (c) the total
energy of circuit possesses at t = 2.0s? (12%)
5. The magnitude of the electric field between the two circular parallel plates
in Fig. 3 is E = (4.0 x 10^5) - (6.0 x 10^4t), with E in volts per meter and
t in seconds. At t = 0, E is upward. The plate area is 6.0 x 10^(-2) m^2.
For t >= 0, what are the (a) the magnitude and (b) the direction (up or
down) of the displacement current between the plates and (c) is the
direction of the induced magnetic field clockwise or counterclockwise in the
figure? (13%)
6. A plane electromagnetic wave has an intensity of 750 W/m^2. A flat,
rectangular surface of dimensions of 50.0 cm x 100 cm is placed
perpendicular to the direction of the wave. The surface absorbs half of the
energy and reflects energy and reflects half. Calculate (a) the total energy
absorbed by the surface in 1.00 s and (b) the momentum absorbed in this
time. (10%)
7. In Fig. 4a, an unpolarized light is sent into a system of three polarizing
sheets. The angles θ1, θ2, and θ3 of the polarization directions are
measures counterclockwise from the positive direction of the y axis (they
are not drawn to scale). Angles θ1 and θ3 are fixed but angle θ2 can be
varied. Figure 4b gives the intensity of the light emerging from sheet 3 as
a function of θ2. (The scale of the intensity axis is not indicated.)
What percentage of the light's initial intensity is transmitted by the
system when θ2 = 35°? (10%)
8. Light of wavelength 620 nm passes through a double slit, yielding a
diffraction pattern whose graph of intensity I versus angular position θis
shown in Fig. 5. Calculate (a) the slit width (b) the slit separation.
(c) Verify the displayed intensities of the m =1 and m = 2 interference
fringes. (15%)
